Is it safe to get pregnant so soon after a birth of a child?

My wife is 6 weeks pregnant and our youngest - the twins - are almost 10 weeks old.

She had stopped taking her birth control and the condom split and now she's pregnant. I hadn't known she had stopped taking her birth control. This child will be our 6th child.

I was just wondering how safe it is. I don't think her body had recovered. I am concerned about her health and the child. In the past we have had 6 miscarriages and one of our children died days after his birth.Is it safe to get pregnant so soon after a birth of a child?It's definitely not ideal to become pregnant that quickly after giving birth. My twins were 14 weeks old when I got pregnant with my third child (singleton). The twins were a c-section birth. The obstetrician said it takes about 5-6 months for the uterus to heal from an incision. And the risks are greater if the placenta implants around the site of the incision (assuming your twins were born via section). He did say, though, that by the time the uterus really starts to expand, the trauma from the previous birth is pretty much healed. Most (if not all) physicians recommend at least one year between pregnancies, but obviously life doesn't always work out that way. Your wife will need to be monitored closely. My personal experience was positive with an uneventful pregnancy and birth, but it was a very stressful nine months!

You are supposed to wait quite some time to have sex and use extra protection because after having a baby, a womans body is incredibly fertile. I would be very concerned since she has had so many problems in the past with pregnancies that as the next form of birth control to get something more permanent, like and iud or her tubes tied. Her body can't handle being pregnant all the time and needs to heal and rest. She's also taking care of all those kids and it's hard being a mom, especially dealing with newborns and other kids and on top of that being pregnant and having morning sickness and other symptons.Is it safe to get pregnant so soon after a birth of a child?Its not the best, and especially after a twin pregnancy your wife's natural vitamin and calcium stores are severly depleted. It usually takes 9-12 months for a woman's body to be completely normal after giving birth. BUT, it happens. Women accidentally get pregnant soon after delivery all the time. It carries additional risk of preterm birth and low birth weight, but other wise does not necessarily mean that anything absolutely will go wrong. She will definately need to be very closely monitored.
