Can a helath visitor refer a child to a peadiatrician based on health grounds rather than behavioural etc?

I know H.V. can refer children if they suspect a child has ADHD or autism but can they refer for health issues or does it have to be a GP.

My son has had a series of outbreaks of spots, today is his fifth lot. They are leaving scars and are uncomfortable. It has been going on for 3 months now. one lot appeared when we were on holiday, due to a servely raised temperature i took him to the local out of hours service. they said he had shingles and if he was their patient would have swabbed the spots, done bloods and if nothing was found referred to a peadiatrician adn was advised on our return home to go to our GP and push for tests. I saw one GP who did nothing (said they were bites!!!) today i saw the senior practitioner, i told him what was said, he said it isnt shingles (or bites, or chicken pox or allergic reaction, all of which i have been told inthe past) he did a swab but shrugged and said dont hold your breath, i dont think it will show anything, its just one of those things. he is refusing to do a blood test or refer to a peadiatrician, but these spots are scarring, they are making him itch adn they look awful. He has them all down his one side, across his back all under his chin and legs.

so would a health visitor be able to refer him to a peadiatrician?! I am also 6 motnhs pregnant and would like to know what they are for that reason to!Can a helath visitor refer a child to a peadiatrician based on health grounds rather than behavioural etc?Your H.V. would certainly be able to advise you, but she doesn't have the authority to make a direct referral to a paediatrician. She may well, however, intervene with your doctor, and support you in your concerns. Just for the record, shingles doesn't itch - it's just sore and painful. Hope things get sorted out soon. Meanwhile, use something simple like Calamine Lotion to soothe the itchy areas. Can a helath visitor refer a child to a peadiatrician based on health grounds rather than behavioural etc?I would have thought that a moisturiser would be better than calamine lotion, you could get some aqueous cream, what you need is a dermatologist I suggest you look online at pictures of skin rashes and try to find one similar to your sonsCan a helath visitor refer a child to a peadiatrician based on health grounds rather than behavioural etc?You don't need a referral to see a pediatrician, call one and set up an appointment.
