Why should adults working with children understand the importance of health and safety?

i am doing a health and safety assignement and need a answer for a distinctiion. if any of you do work with children please help!

many thanks,Why should adults working with children understand the importance of health and safety?Because they have a legal requirement to do so. They have a duty of care when these children are in their care. Take the Heath and Safety Act and Management at Work Regs and apply it to a workplace in which there are children i.e a nursery / school. Cover issues such as leaving them unattended, COSH - letting them come into contact with harmful substances, welfare issues - such as food, toilet etc.Why should adults working with children understand the importance of health and safety?
omg that is brillent shabraz a are you doing level 1 childcare then as i am and i have this same assignment and i have wrote

that you need 2 be aware of the dangers incase there is accidents

Why should adults working with children understand the importance of health and safety? That's common sense, think about it and you should get an answer
Because its the Law. My sister is a child minder and had to get certificates and her house assesed by the Fire dept to make sure her house was suitable for looking after children.

Plus most of it is common sense. No leaving hot drinks around, make sure all cables and wires are stored and secure. Why should adults working with children understand the importance of health and safety? So that the children are healthy and safe I would thinkWhy should adults working with children understand the importance of health and safety?
Because they are the adult. The child is too young to think of consequence or danger. The adult has to think ahead and eliminate any possible hazard. If the adult is not clued up on health and safety issues then the child is not in safe hands.

They should also know what to do should an unforeseeable accident occur. They should be trained in how to act quickly to aid the child and decide what medical attention is needed.
firstly its a legal requirement.

i would say that as someome working with children, in wahtever capacity, your prime responsibility to the child and its parents is to keep the child safe.

children learn from the adults in their lives and you should also be able to pass on some basic understanding of health and safety principles to the children in your care (presuming the child is of appropriate age/level of understanding)Why should adults working with children understand the importance of health and safety?
Children very often are oblivious to they need for safety due to their lack of experience. That is why an adult needs to instruct, caution and watch

A lot of this is to do with the employment of children but it does mention children and Health and Safety.

There is a fair amount of legislation around as well

“Safe from Harm” (1993) is a Code of Practice giving 13 guidelines for the protection of children and young people. It also protects all those who work with them from unfounded accusations or from behaving in a way that may

be well intentioned but inadvisable.

The Children’s Act (1989).
