Is Calpol bad, is this child's health at risk?

Q: my sister gives her son who is 4 calpol to help him sleep. she has done this for a good while now. every night, is this safe?

the boy is a hyper and angry boy and lovable at other times, i asked him not to give chocolate to my dog but he did so to annoy me.

also his mum does not let him have an afternoon nap, and puts him to bed at 8ish (with calpol)

PLEASE I needs advice here peopleIs Calpol bad, is this child's health at risk?Is it Calpol or Calpol Night? Calpol Night is only supposed to be given to kids over 6 years old. In any case, this medication is not meant to be used every night. That's not good for him and could have health risks.

Not having an afternoon nap and going to bed at 8 is perfectly normal. That's what my 4 year old does.

Don't be heavy-handed with your sister and tell her what to do. It's usually best to say, "Have you checked with his doctor to see if that's ok?" Or, better yet, "I used to take something to help me sleep, but my doctor said that wasn't a good idea. Maybe you should ask his doctor if that's ok."

The doctor may be able to give other suggestions for helping a very active boy get to sleep, such as no sugar after 6 o'clock, a warm bath, or a glass of milk.Is Calpol bad, is this child's health at risk?
Calpol is harmless if given once a night. It's got a very low paracetamol level and is sweet to taste, it's got no harmful drugs in.Is Calpol bad, is this child's health at risk?Calpol isn't bad. Giving it to the child every night is.Is Calpol bad, is this child's health at risk?
Calpol will not help him sleep! She knows nothing about child health - who told her to give him Calpol every night?!!

Calpol is just paracetamol and it shouldn't be given to a child every day. She should take him to the doctor if he has psychological problems. At his age most kids don't have an afternoon nap, so an 8pm bedtime is OK, maybe a little late, depends on what time he wakes up. He should be sleeping about 10 hours + a night. Is Calpol bad, is this child's health at risk?calpol is paracetamol. i wouldn't give this to my children unless they were in pain, or had a temperature. adults get addicted to painkillers, so i guess kids could too??? must admit tho, calpol has never made my kids sleepy. wouldn't recommend afternoon naps at 4 as he will start school at 5. i think she should stop the calpol thing otherwise he will get addicted to the idea of it.
