The drug Debendox was used to treat morning sickness in pregnant women until it was banned in the 80s after links to the baby suffering malformations. I was wondering, if there is any research/evidence to link this drug to a likelihood of the child developing mental health difficulties/psychiatric disorders?Link between the drug Debendox and mental health conditions?Hi, I took Debendox when I was pregnant with my daughter. I was really ill for the whole 9 months and took it throughout. My daughter is now 35, a very high achiever, she has just returned to university and is the sanest person I know.
The claims against Debendox as a cause of malformations were proven to be false. The sheer numbers of women taking the drug meant that malformations were going to occur as a natural expectation of pregnancy. Numbers of malformations in women who took the drug were no higher than in women who didn't. It was taken off the market because of the ground swell of people wanting to sue anyway not because it was actually causing problems. These days our society needs to find someone and something to blame for life's painful experiences.
Mental health problems in our society are of epidemic proportions. The causes could be anything from synthetic chemicals in our diet or environment to excessive electromagnetic exposure. Look how many electrical appliances are used today compared to the 70's.
Research to link Debendox to mental health problems isn't being done nor is it likely to be explored given that all previous claims against the drug have been fully investigated and proven false.Link between the drug Debendox and mental health conditions?Good question - i'd love to know but unfortunately do not (yet).
