I'm about to have my first child any day now, and I'm on the state health insurance Access since me and my boyfriend aren't married, I was recently told that once my baby is born that I would be taken off of the insurance and she would be put on. Does anyone know how exactly this works? Do I still get the insurance and she's just added on to my plan or do I get taken off in place of her? I'm just curious.Access health care?new child?You submit the paper work to have her added to the insurance plan. You won't be dropped immediately. Your 2 week and 6 week check-up should be covered under it. Then, when your time is up, you will be sent a letter saying you are being removed from the plan and told you can petition to stay on it. She will still be on it for the first year as long as you filled out the paper work to have her added. Then, you reapply after that.
